Kids just have a way of humbling you and everything you believe in. They cut through the nonsense and give you a sense of your priorities. The second kids is easier (logistically), but gives you the same world-shaking ‘oh fuck’ moment as the first.
On November 11th at 11:07AM, I welcomed my second son to the world. This kid had it rough from the start. He was under constant attack because of Anti-E Alloimmunization, early stage anemia, and rough rides in the Jeep.
During the pregnancy, we leaned heavily on the Allo Hope Foundation. There’s surprisingly little information about Anti-E Alloimmunization, but these folks (and Bethany Weathersby) did an amazing job of breaking down the concept, citing all their work, and creating easy-to-follow plans on how to navigate a difficult pregnancy.
Mom and baby are happy, tired, and just eager to get life started again. We’re all breathing a sigh of relief.
